Chiropractic Adjustment/Mobilization

Spinal and extremity adjusting is unique to chiropractic, and chiropractors obtain over 4 years of direct hands-on training utilizing various adjustment techniques. An adjustment is typically used to restore appropriate motion and function of a restricted/misaligned joint. The adjustment in turn allows the body to heal itself. The Chiropractic adjustment is a quick thrust applied to a spinal vertebra or extremity joint in order to restore motion and function. Adjustments are often accompanied by an audible release of gas that sounds like a "crack", it's much like when you open a can of pop and hear the release of gases. Chiropractic adjusting therapeutically influences the bones, nerves, muscles, soft tissues (ligaments, tendons, blood supply), and hormones in your body. Mobilizations can often substitute adjustments for geriatric and pediatric populations, or someone who does not prefer to be adjusted. During mobilizations the joint is taken to its "end-range" without the high speed thrust of the adjustment, in turn you will not hear the "crack". Mobilizations are very effective; however you may not experience the full therapeutic benefit of adjustments.
